ITINERARY

Day 1: June 28, Tuesday – Vancouver to Kamloops

07:15 hrs Our coach will arrive at the hotel to transfer the group to the rail station

07:30 hrs Boarding begins,
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. On this journey you will see dramatic changes in the scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser river valley, through the forests and winding river canyons surrounded by peaks of the Coast and Cascade mountains, to the desert like environment of the interior. Breakfast and Lunch are served on board. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s gate in the Fraser Canyon and steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into Kamloops.

Day 2: June 29, Wednesday – Kamloops to Jasper

08:10 hrs Boarding begins
Your journey continues North and East to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Breakfast and Lunch are served onboard. Once again you will be surrounded by dramatic scenery as you follow the banks of the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo mountains, climbing ever nearer to the high peaks of the Continental Divide. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, at 3,954 meters (12,972 feet) the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Pyramid Falls, and the climb over the Yellow head Pass into Jasper National Park. Your rail journey ends on arrival in the resort town of Jasper this evening. 18:10 hrs Approximate arrival time in Jasper. Overnight in Jasper

Day 3 June 30, Thursday – Jasper to Banff

Travel to Banff today via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. A stop will be made at Athabasca Falls before arriving at the Columbia Icefield.Here you will ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier to learn more about its geological features. Your driver/guide will explain how glaciers are formed and point out some interesting geological features. Time will be available for a non hosted lunch. A brief stop will be made at Bow Lake and Lake Louise before arriving in Banff in the late afternoon. Overnight in Banff

Day 4 July 01, Friday – Banff to Calgary (Banff tour included)

After an early breakfast, you will enjoy a tour of Banff. Among the points of interest are Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Reach new on the Banff Gondola that will whisk you away to an elevation of 2,281 m (7,486 ft) above sea level to the top of Sulphur Mountain in Banff. Enjoy a 360° unobstructed view of the breathtaking Rocky Mountains. Arrive at the Calgary Airport in time for your flight.

• Charter times are pre-determined and any usage over and above the contracted time must be pre-approved by Rocky Mountaineer Vacations. Any additional costs associated with extending the original time must be prepaid.
• The tour is based on Red leaf Service on the Rocky Mountaineer and Red leaf accommodation (except for the 1 night Kamloops where only moderate properties are available)
• Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner meals are arranged at each hotel, unless indicated on the itinerary
• Entrance to attractions and meals included in tour are based on group admission. Guests within your group who choose not to participate in an activity will not receive a personal refund.
• Commentary of local history and points of history are provided by your motor coach driver guide for all sightseeing tours. Transfers to and from train stations/airports are direct transfers and commentary is not provided
• All meals include service charges and gratuities except when onboard the Rocky Mountaineer. Alcoholic beverages are not included unless otherwise noted.

Ice field Parkway Tour: Experience the Icefields Parkways one of the most scenic roadways in Canada and one of the most spectacular mountain highways in the world. The Columbia Icefield is the Parkway’s crown jewel where you will embark upon an ice explorer on a glacier.

Ice Explorer: As a part of you Icefield Parkways Tour, you will board a unique specially designed Ice Explorer for a 90 minute guided tour onto the surface of Athabasca Glacier.

Banff Tour: In Canada’s oldest National Park you will learn about the natural attractions or the wind-shaped hoodoos which tower majestically over the valley. Visit the classic view points of “Surprise corner” along tunnel mountain drive Lake Minnewanka and Bow Falls. Learn how these majestic mountains have shaped this community
